"A good example of why I like racing is Jerez 2014, I started in eighth place, because in the second qualifying my motorbike broke, at the start I advanced two places and reached the leading group. For the whole race I was in the group and I tried to stay in fifth place for a last lap attack. On the last lap I couldn't attack until the last curve because my motorbike was a little lower in the engine and in the last turn I advanced three places and I finished second," recalls Rufino.
My first race
It's obvious that he loves his racing and it is a passionate affair that started early. "I always liked motorbikes and one day my father gave me a pocket bike, it was 2008 I think and in 2009 I began training motocross. But I prefer the tarmac, then I started to train with a Metrakit 12", 80 cc and from then I really got going."
My first race in MotoDes
"All of my family support me but the most involved is my father, because he was the one who most supported me and still does," explains Rufino who has a simple racing philosophy; "For me the most important is to give everything and always try to win and above all have fun with what I do. Certainly I want to achieve things, like everyone, win all races, but principally, I want to enjoy the motorbike and give everything."
Training hard on a Honda CRF70
I learnt a lot of things in 2015 with the Rookies Cup. One of them for example is stay in calm in the race, never get nervous because this doesn't help anything, I learny too to never surrender and I learnt also to fight in a group because this is one of me weak points"
"My best race of 2015 was in Brno, I started 17th because I didn't feel good with the track but I made a very good start and in the second turn I was 8th. I was fighting with the leading group and in 1st lap I was first. I felt myself with a very good rhythm but in the second to last lap I made a bad overtake and I dropped far off the leading group, finally I finished in 8 place but it was my best race Cup race."
"For me the most satisfaction in racing is from winning because it means that the setting uo of the bikes was perfect and I worked very well with the team, but if I don't win and get the best out of the bike I still get satisfiction."
"In 2015 I also raced with the Team Machado in the CEV and I made very good lap times with the bike and fought well for the top 6 places but lacked expereince with the bike. I only got on the bike on the Friday of the race weekend and I fell in the two races."
At school his favourite subject is Natural Sciences and when he is not racing he likes to; "Stay with my friends, play games on my pc and ride in my bike." His racing heroes are Valentino Rossi, Tito Rabat and Marc Márquez. He is looking forward to learning the GP tracks especially those with chicane sections. "They are sharp curves but it goes fast!"
"For 2016 I expect do a great season showing what Rufino Florido can do and find good possibilitiers for 2017 to progress my motorbike career like RedBull MotoGP Rookies Cup or Moto3 in the World Championship."
